Faith isn’t always about grand gestures, miraculous moments, or earth-shattering revelations. More often, it’s found in the quiet, consistent steps we take every day—choosing to trust God in the small things, even when we can’t see the full picture. It’s easy to look for God in the big moments, the life-changing decisions, or the times when we’re desperately in need of a breakthrough. But I’ve found that some of the most profound ways God reveals Himself are in the mundane, the ordinary, the places we least expect.

Walk by faith, not by sight

For a long time, I thought my faith needed to feel like a dramatic experience. I thought trusting God meant stepping out in big, risky ways—changing my whole life at once. And sometimes, faith does look like that. But more often, walking in faith means taking small steps—one prayer at a time, one act of trust at a time, one moment of surrender at a time.

The Beauty of Everyday Faith

Faith isn’t just about what we believe in the big moments; it’s about how we live out that belief in the little ones. It’s about the small choices that may not seem significant in the moment but build a foundation of trust in God over time.

I see it in my morning routine when I sit down with my journal and pour out my prayers to God. Some days, those prayers feel deep and full of emotion. Other days, I’m simply writing a few scattered thoughts. But no matter what, I’m showing up. And I believe that every small act of faith—every whispered prayer, every moment of surrender—matters to God.

Faith is also in the way I go about my daily life, trusting that God is working even when I don’t feel particularly spiritual. It’s in showing up for my responsibilities, knowing that my work matters, even when it feels small. It’s in the unexpected moments of encouragement—a kind word from a friend, a quiet sense of peace when I should feel anxious, a gentle nudge in my spirit reminding me that I’m not alone.

Trusting God in the Mundane

Some of the hardest lessons I’ve learned about faith have come in the most ordinary seasons of life. I used to think faith had to be exciting, that I needed to feel something powerful every day to know that I was walking with God. But I’ve realized that faith is often quiet. It’s found in the daily rhythms of life—making a meal, showing up for work, keeping my home in order, caring for my daughter.

It’s in choosing to trust God even when the path isn’t clear, even when I don’t know how things will turn out. It’s in surrendering control over the things I can’t change and choosing to believe that He is working behind the scenes.

Reflecting on God’s Provision in My Life

Looking back, I see so many moments where God showed up in small ways that turned out to be big blessings. There were times when I wasn’t sure how I would make ends meet, yet God provided. There were days when I felt discouraged, and someone spoke exactly the words I needed to hear. There were moments when I questioned whether I was on the right path, and God sent a confirmation through a sermon, a verse, or even just a deep sense of peace.

I think back to the time I was in the domestic violence shelter, feeling lost and unsure of what the future held. In that moment of deep fear, God spoke clearly: I will provide for you. And He has—sometimes in ways I expected, but more often in ways I never saw coming.

Faith is built in these everyday moments—when we look back and realize that even when we couldn’t see the way forward, God was leading us all along.

Walking by Faith, Not by Sight

If you’re in a season where faith feels small, where you don’t see big changes happening, or where life just feels ordinary—take heart. God is still at work. Every step of faith, no matter how small, is significant.

Maybe it’s praying even when you don’t feel like it. Maybe it’s choosing to trust God with a situation that feels uncertain. Maybe it’s simply getting up in the morning and doing the next right thing. Whatever it is, know that God is present in the process.

The Bible tells us, “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Walking by faith isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting God enough to take the next step, even when we don’t know where it’s leading.

Conclusion

Faith isn’t just about the big moments—it’s about the daily steps we take, the small acts of trust that add up over time. When we choose to trust God in the little things, we begin to see His faithfulness in every part of our lives.

So today, I encourage you to take a small step of faith. Pray, even if it’s just a few words. Trust God with something that’s weighing on you. Look for His presence in the ordinary moments of your day. Because in those small steps, big faith is being built.

And through it all, God is walking with you.
